mahabis fashion film // rachel antonoff's dressed rehearsal

rachel antonoff is a young ny designer known for quirky mod sundresses worn by the likes of zooey deschanel. the uberhipster's website tells her story succently (with a little tongue in cheek)  'rachel antonoff is a natural blonde living and working in new york city.'

we love rachel's fondness for all things 70s, and the way she lives and breathes her relaxed style from the feet up.

early this year she released her fashion film crush to promote her sping/summer line featuring her brother jack and community's gillian jacobs as awkwarded would-be couple.  the story was based on rachel's parents early relationship. crush has been hailed as the best fashion film of the year.

for the record antonoff's brother jack is the guitarist and songwriter in fun whose single we are young  topped the US billboard hot 100 chart and won a grammy.  rachel features in its clip.

her fashion films and publicity shoots began with her using her employees but now hide cameos by indie actor. in this shot for summer 2014 she uses friend and actress aubrey plaza (parks and recreation) and her dog. 

her line up for winter 2014 channels the likes of 70s icon samantha stevens from bewitched.  the accompanying short film entitled dressed rehearsal journeys us a few years further into the 70s taking up where crush left off to remeet our awkwards lovers as a suburban couple. of course, jack and gillian continue in their roles.
