what are mahabis slippers?

mahabis are revolutionary slippers designed for the 21st century. we've redesigned the humble slipper from the ground up, fusing innovative techniques and materials with unbeatable comfort, to create a slipper like no other. inspired by scandinavian design, our minimalist range of slippers are designed to be worn both indoors and out. there are a range of styles to choose from, to suit your downtime and everyday adventures.

what are the differences between the mahabis collections?

we have created four styles of mahabis, all with fixed, durable, sneaker-like soles, so you can wear mahabis however and wherever you like. mahabis classic have a warm felt upper and are lined with 100% lambswool to regulate your foot temperature. for a little more luxury, upgrade to our luxe range . you'll get all the warmth and comfort of the classic, with the added aesthetic benefit of a nubuck leather upper. our canvas collection has a water and abrasion resistant upper, made from technical knitted polyester. you'll never want to take this light, durable slipper off and now you don't have to. want all the comfort of the mahabis classic without the weight? mahabis flow is our flexible, lightweight slipper. designed to move with you.

what happened to your outdoor slipper?

the mahabis outdoor slipper is still available, it’s just been re-named to mahabis canvas.

we felt that “outdoor” didn’t really do justice to how this slipper can be used. While the water-resistant upper and tpu sole make them perfect for strolls outside, the durable, abrasion-resistant canvas also makes them the preferred slipper for many more adventurous downtimes too - both indoor and out.

baking, gardening, toddler-wrangling, patio reclining - it’s up to you!

yes! mahabis slippers are completely unisex. you can check out our sizing chart for more help finding your perfect size.

can i wash my mahabis slippers?

to keep your mahabis looking fresh, use a damp cloth to clean and then let them air dry. machine washing can risk misshaping them so we don't recommend it, but if you choose to, be sure to use a low heat setting (e.g. 30 degrees).

where are mahabis made?

mahabis products are designed in london and made at factories in portugal and china. we visit our factories often and speak with the teams who work with us regularly.

tell me more about the materials

we use a range of innovative and premium materials in mahabis slippers to ensure they're incredibly comfortable, yet practical too. whilst each collection is slightly different, all mahabis slippers currently feature a contoured foam insock, collapsible neoprene heels and tpu soles.

our classic slipper features a 100% lambswool lining and wool-blend upper, whilst the mahabis flow range is crafted from a lightweight, breathable mesh. mahabis luxe are made from a supple nubuck leather upper, lined with a cloud-soft merino wool blend. the mahabis canvas range has a water and abrasion resistant upper, made from a technical knitted polyester, lined with wool, and is finished with a fixed tpu sole.

i want to buy the slippers with the detachable soles, where are they?

eek! these are no longer available. in july 2018, after extensive research, we introduced a new, sneaker-like sole. it's fixed to the slipper and made from a highly durable, performance-grade tpu (just like the detachable soles we featured before). we're pretty excited, and hope you'll love the new design an even more comfortable and practical slipper, that you can now wear further and for longer. all day, everywhere.

are mahabis vegan?

our flow slippers, from the original mahabis collection with detachable soles, are totally wool free. the primary components of the slipper are vegan (a mesh upper, eva or tpu sole, and textile lining) but we can't totally rule out traces of animal products used in the glue and manufacturing process. the lambswool lining of the classic, luxe and canvas collections is backed onto synthetics rather than sheepskin.

do mahabis have arch support?

all mahabis have a foam footbed that offers adaptive support to the natural contours of the foot. if you purchased mahabis with detachable soles, you'll notice lighter arch support and a more relaxed fit.

can i use my own insoles with mahabis?

the insole in mahabis is glued down, so we don't recommend removing it. that said, we understand that you might want to use orthotics or other insoles and will leave this to your discretion.

i'm not sure about sizing, where can i get more info?

on each slipper page you’ll find a link called what’s my size. this will help you find your exact size. also you can check out our sizing chart to help you choose your mahabis size. whilst some prefer to size down for a snug fit, and others prefer them a little more roomy, we've tried to cater for the majority of preferences, and have a handy 'foot measurement' guide to help inform your choice.

are mahabis suitable for wide feet?

mahabis have a generous fit and tend to be wider than a conventional shoe, they also offer more give. if you drop our support team a message, they can try to help a little further.

all mahabis slippers are incredibly lightweight. we have some estimated weights below, for an unboxed, pair of slippers:

  1. mahabis classic / luxe: 450-700 grams
  2. mahabis flow: 300-500 grams

how do i attach the soles?

Pay later in 3 will allow you to spread the cost of your purchase over 3 equal payments. Am I eligible for Pay later in 3?

To use Pay later in 3 you must be at least 18. Whilst this option is widely promoted, Pay later in 3 is subject to your financial circumstances. When choosing Pay later in 3, our assessment will not affect your credit rating.

Klarna is unique and offers Pay later in 3 based on a number of factors such as the order value, previous order history and item availability. If you are 18 or over, you can improve your chances of being offered Pay later in 3 by ensuring you provide your full name and accurate address details and shipping to your registered billing address. All orders are assessed individually. Just because you have been accepted for a Klarna payment method before does not mean it will be offered for every order and in turn, as it is denied does not mean it will be denied for all future orders.

If you want to make a purchase with Klarna using Pay later in 3, you'll need to provide your mobile phone number, email address, current billing address and a debit or card card. Will a credit search take place against me?

Klarna may run so-called unrecorded enquiries (or soft credit searches) that do not affect credit scoring and are only visible to you and Klarna, but not visible to other lenders. Neither Klarna nor Mahabis run credit searches against you that could impact your credit rating.

Why have I not been offered Pay later in 3?

Although Pay later in 3 is widely promoted it is not always universally available. what is the mahabis recycling scheme?

The mahabis recycling scheme is a program we are running with First Mile to prevent mahabis from going into landfill. We take your old mahabis, turn them into other useful products, and reward you for your good work.

what happens to my slippers when they are recycled?

our warehouse in swindon will store your pre-loved slippers until they have enough for one big (and economical) shipment to first mile in cheshire, our recycling partner.
first mile then give your mahabis a second life by processing, shredding and transforming them into playground surfacing, roads, boxing bag inners, and a whole lot more.

what condition can my mahabis be in when I return them?

First Mile will find a new life for your mahabis regardless of their condition — pre loved, really loved, and really really loved. Any condition is fine.

can I recycle the detachable-soled mahabis?

Yes, absolutely. We will recycle any model of mahabis.

where can I return them?

As long as you’re based in the UK, they can be dropped into any Royal Mail postbox, or dropped off at any Royal Mail post office. Remember to pack them without a box to reduce waste and to ensure that they will fit into a post box.

what are the benefits of recycling my mahabis?

Not only will you be reducing landfill waste, you will be rewarded with a 15% off voucher for your next pair of mahabis.

what if I can only find one of my mahabis?

That’s not a problem – just send the one. (Although you won’t get another voucher if you end up returning the missing slipper)

can I send back other shoes with my mahabis?

Unfortunately we can only recycle mahabis. But check the website of any other shoes you wish to recycle as they may have their own recycling scheme - it’s a trend we’re hoping will catch on industry-wide.

do they need to be boxed?

No. It’s best if they’re unboxed to reduce waste. Feel free to pack in a mail sack or even an old carrier bag – all that’s needed is for it to be taped up securely with the returns label firmly stuck to the outside so it’s clearly visible.

can I send back more than one pair?

Yes you can! And you will receive a voucher code for each pair returned, however only one code can be used per purchase.
