while we love mosaert's geometric prints and retro shapes, we are even more inspired by the creativity of this funky promotional shoot. there is something brilliantly whimsical about the models' serious stares, neat appearances and conservative expressions, yet the quirkiness of their styling.

mosaert is based out of belgium and was set up by popstar paul van haver (aka stromae). this new line entitled 'mosaert's capsule two' consists of cardigans, pullovers, polos and socks.

their styles are designed and produced in limited quantities in europe. each piece is distinguished and combines a clean lined mixture of retro english school cuts, checks, isometric patterns and warm coloured african wax prints. 

the look makes us think of classic sixties films based in multicultural cities, to sir with love starring sidney poitier springs to mind in particular. we can't help but envisage the nostalgic mix of sixties shift dresses, sharp suits and mod styles.

these photos also bring old fashioned portraiture to mind, where the straight-faced subject was the focal point against dated backdrops. in this setting, the seriousness of the subjects brings attention to the detailing and textures of the clothes. 

we love the quirky style of this video combining mosaert style with belgian rapper stromae. the popstar's second album, racine carrée, was a massive hit in europe and the french speaking world selling 1.5 million copies in france and 2.75 million worldwide. his videos have also attracted hundreds of millions of views on youtube.
