mahabis design // the perfect winter corner by artist ngurah arya
if winter is on its way in your part of the world you might be considering some quiet time indoors with a book, a creative pursuit, or simply great conversation. all you need is the perfect corner to curl up in.
so what would that consist of? a soft sofa where you can sit or sink with a book, inspiring light and touches of nature.... a space suitable for both solitude and for sharing socially.
this space is by indonesian digital concept artist ngurah arya. although his part of the world perhaps doesn't need to shut out the cold, we think he understands the nature of comfort, balance and texture.
you want a space where you can toss a cushion or throw rug without worrying about mess, and here it's done by keeping the furnishings all shade of the same warm grey.
the perfect space combines minimalism and naturalism with a huge window so you feel close to nature, yet tucked away in the warm indoors. the unusual stick coffee table also gives it an earthy feel and looks brilliantly in-keeping with the vanished wood floor, bringing out the natural lines in the timber. in scandavian style, he has gone for a minimalist look with the modern lights and cool colours, but in indonesian style the wood is rich and naturally finished.
also note how the large hanging landscape image works to balance out the large window space.
in removing the curtains and blinds, the big window draws in different times of day and seasons.
we just love it. the long corner sofa makes you want to kick off your shoes, put on your slippers, get comfortable and curl up with a book or some ambient music.
so if you've got the winter blues why not try reconfiguring you space around a corner and a window.
